DIFFERENT WAYS OF DRINKING TEA: HOW OTHER CULTURES DRINK THEIR TEA

Join Jane Pettigrew for an evening of teas from around the world.

We’ll be drinking the following 8 brewed teas from different countries prepared in the local traditional way:

  • Mint Tea from Morocco (gunpowder tea brewed with fresh mint and sugar)
  • East Frisian Tea from Germany (strong black tea served with a lump of rock sugar and thick cream)
  • Malaysian Teh Tarik (black tea mixed with condensed milk and evaporated milk)
  • Kahwah from Afghanistan (green tea brewed with cardamom pods, cinnamon bark, and saffron strands)
  • East African Tea (strong CTC black tea brewed with fresh ginger and served with milk and sugar)
  • Hakka Lei Cha from China and Taiwan (green or oolong pounded with pulses, seeds, nuts and toasted grains to make a kind of soup)
  • Masala Chai from North India (black Assam tea brewed with spices and sugar)
  • Masala Chai from Southern India (black Nilgiri tea brewed with ginger and fresh basil)
